Should I have said something?
by Beans ingrowing up i was discriminated for being german and italian not only that my ears grew before i did and was also called dumbo.
so combine that with square head, nazi and wop and being made fun of for being a jw getting in fights as a kid was very frequent.. so now you can pretty much call me anything you want and i really just don't care, got used to it and it just rolls off me.
so last week i am at a small birthday party and this guy was making some coments about germans and calling his boss "a crusty old kraut" among other things.

Being made fun of for being German?
People of German descent are pretty common where I live.

Hi Kelli. I'm sorry you had to go through with so much with the JWs, but hey, at least you are out of it now.

How much of the bible do JW's really use?
by blindfool ini've noticed over the last several weeks how often the same scriptures are used in meetings at the kingdom hall.. anytime galatians is mentioned you can just about be sure you are going to look up chapter 5 ver.
19.. 2 timothy is going to be 3: 16. i can't remember considering any addional text to get the context of the verse, just reading the same verses over and over.
i'm sure most of you can name lots more scriptures used by jw's.. i think i'm going to start taking notes at meetings and listing which verses are used, then i can look from week to week and see how often the same old verses are considered.

Good point. However, they typically give newer recruits, who haven't been totally immersed in the WT doctrine...yet, the #2 talk, so I guess they figure allowing comments during that talk would be more dangerous than for Bible highlights, which is often done by a well known in the congregation. This well known of course, has been so brainwashed that it's probably safe to give him free reign.
I know it sounds like conspiracy theory, but if it's true, then it is very clever and manipulative.

My brother died last night
by doodle-v inmy brother turned 21 on september 24th, a month later the doctor told him that his leukimia had returned and he had a 10% chance of surviving.
ten days before he died he spent four days at my house.
he had already made up his mind that he wasnt going to take blood.

(((doodle))) I'm so sorry this had to happen to you like this.
I think it's sickening that the elder's wore those things around their necks. It's almost like a mockery.

And since when did the Rams move to St. Louis? I was watching the game the other night and couldn't believe my eyes...
They've been in St. Louis for a few seasons now.
Dan, if anyone accusses you of being a "bandwagon jumper," politely point to your location directly under your name. I think that'll make the answer pretty obvious.

So called "Theocratic Warfare"
by Mysterious ini've heard others talk about it but i've never been in the middle of it before until now.
mom was peeved at me for not being very theocractic (not doing anything wrong, just not being dub enough) and she started talking about how it was with my dad.
she totally spun a tale to me about how he slowly drifted away.

Well, the dubs always say God doesn't condone war, so wouldn't waging "theocratic warfare" be hypocritical?
I know, I'm being a smart ass.

Because they are not allow to give any commentary. Just reading that's all.
Ironically, the first talke I was assigned was a #2 talk, and this was right before they made the change to where you don't give commentary. I even voiced my opinion that I think talks with commentary, instead of just a straight reading, is better. I always thought the change was a little bit weird. I guess they WT society wants to put a halt to other people interpreting the Bible.
Anyway, to answer the original question, I noticed they use a heap of their scriptures from Psalms. I realize it's a big book in the Bible, but it seems like it's used about 20% of the time.
